  Time to Come to WY
Posted By : Nancy and John
Posted On : 01-14-2017
Hey Max! We spent six years living in Doha, Qatar, and you never came over there and played. Well, now we've moved to Wyoming, and we hope you'll come up here. We were sad to miss you in Steamboat Springs, but we've got you on the jukebox here in Laramie and will hope to see you soon. All three of our kids (Hank, Jack, and Hannah) have grown up listening to you, so we're sure that's made an improvement to their DNA. It also means they've kept their Texan-ness no matter where they've been. Cheers to you and your sweet family! And we mean it...please come Wyoming soon. :)

A reply from Max : Nancy & John,
Well, I can say chances of me making it to Wyoming are a tad better than my chances of making it to Doha!  Though I'd love to do both!  Maybe 2017 is the year we get this Wyoming thing done.
I'm happy you have kept your kids "Texas".  That's going to serve them well in their later years.
I do hope to get to see you sooner rather than later!
Cheers and many thanks!

Enjoyed the Cowboys Comin' to Town show. Unfortunately, I was sitting in the wings and couldn't see who was playing....except for Kevin Fowler. Did you do the "Christmas Song" re: if you could have dinner with anyone... If so, is it available any where? Everyone was fantastic but that song was so funny!

A reply from Max : Victoria,
Glad you liked the "Cowboys' show. It was fun!  I had a great time and was really honored to sit right next to MMM as he did that amazing version of Wildfire. Wow.  Humbling.
Yes, that was me that did that Christmas song...not much of a Christmas song...but oh well.  It's called Fantasy Dinner and it's on a record called "Home To You" from a few years ago. It's available to purchase from this website or on iTunes or Amazon or to be listened to on Spotify, Pandora, etc.
I hope you get a copy and enjoy it.

Thanks for coming to the show and thanks for the kind words about the song.

A reply from Max : Tony,
Always so great to see you guys. Thanks for coming to Hanks. That was a fun night.  And thanks for your kind words. I feel very fortunate to get to do what I do for a living. I DO still miss Frito Lay and all my friends there. Some amazing people! Hope to see you again and God Bless Texas!

Question about a song about a cow (and such)

Mr Stalling, Ive been a fan for a good long time. Ive soaked up as many live shows that I can make it to and spin the heck out of your CDs on those DFW commutes. Now I have a 14 month old daughter that loves your songs as much as myself. Thank you for all that. Anyway... A few (maybe several) years ago you played a song at Dan's Silverleaf and again at Love and War Plano that was about a ranch where the animals were all fat and happy. Do you remember the song? If so, is it available anywhere? Id really like to share it with the kid. Thanks! Dan

A reply from Max : Hey Dan,
Thanks for your great post and moreover, for your support through the years. And congrats on your litle one!  How cool.
The song you are thinking of is called "Polka Ranch"...and it's a song I wrote a ton of years ago just for grins.  I VERY RARELY play it and don't believe there are any recordings of it that I know of (at least I hope not!).  It's pretty silly...but maybe if I ever do a children's record it would be a good fit?

Wish I could point you to where to go get the song but alas, it's not something I've ever recorded.

All the best to you and hope you'll keep coming out to shows!

Yours in music,

Dear Max, I've been a fan for a long time (since I was nine or so), and every time I see you live, listen to you, or stop by your site, I am pleased as punch at just how well you stay grounded in your Texas roots. Makes for great listening and a devoted fan base (count me in). I'd like to make one claim: to be the first to take your music and a Max Stalling T-shirt under the waves! I can't attach a photo here but will email it to your team. I wore a Max Stalling shirt on the deck of the USS Boise back in May down in the Caribbean, and at least a few times, I listened to Banquet and the old standby Wide Afternoon while we were submerged. Can't say I won you any new fans way out there (dolphins didn't flock to country music), but I did my best. Here's to your continued success and many more enjoyable songs, whether in the studio, on the road, or underwater. Take care!

A reply from Max :

That is really cool!  Thanks so much for sharing this with me. Thank you for the kind words and I have to say...what a helluva cool picture!  I gotta post this one to social media if it's ok.  Will that be alright?

Thanks again and thanks for your service!

Thoroughly enjoyed the show and love the Banquet CD, just never get tired of listening to it. Can't beat Texas Sunshine, adopted that as my theme song. Hope to see in Gruene later this month. Have also contacted Chad about possibility of booking you for my 50th wedding anniversary in Jan 2018 in Helotes/San Antonio. Keep up the good work!

A reply from Max : Bob,
So glad you like the cd. I'm very proud of it.  And hope that we can do your 50th!  Sounds like a blast.  Till Gruene!

Looking forward to seeing Max and his band play tonight. Warms ups sounded great and Hanks sound system is much improved. Tony Cuellar and I are thrilled to see an ex Frito peer rise as a top of the country music performer.

A reply from Max : Great seeing you Frito Lay fighters there!  Thanks for coming out!  Max

  Joke of the Week

entry for "Joke of the Week" A wealthy Arab Sheikh was admitted to the hospital for heart surgery, but prior to the surgery, they needed to store his type of blood in case the need arose. As the gentleman had a rare type of blood, it couldn't be found locally, so, the call went out. Finally a Scotsman was located who had a similar blood type. The Scot willingly donated his blood for the Arab. After the surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman in appreciation for giving his blood, a new BMW, 5 carats of diamonds, and $50,000 dollars. A couple of days later, once again, the Arab had to go through a corrective surgery. The hospital telephoned the Scotsman who was more than happy to donate more of his blood again. After the second surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman a Thank-you card and a box of Chocolates. The Scotsman was shocked that the Arab did not reciprocate his kind gesture as he had before. He phoned the Arab and asked him: "I thought you would be generous again, that you would give me another BMW, diamonds and money ... but you only gave me a Thank-you card and a box of Chocolates." To this the Arab replied: "Aye Laddie, but I have Scottish blood in me veins now !"
